adrenogenital syndrome
Definition
A disorder affecting both adrenal glands and genital organs, typically characterized by abnormal hormone production
Clinical context
A 22-year-old female presents with irregular menstrual cycles, hirsutism, and acne. Physical examination reveals a virilizing appearance with increased body hair and clitoromegaly. Laboratory tests show elevated levels of androgens and adrenocorticotropic hormone. Imaging studies reveal bilateral adrenal masses.
