angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy
Definition
A pathological condition affecting lymph nodes and lymphatic system, characterized by abnormal proliferation of lymphocytes and blood vessels, with immune system involvement
Clinical context
A 58-year-old woman presents with fever, night sweats, and generalized lymphadenopathy lasting 6 weeks. Physical examination reveals enlarged cervical, axillary, and inguinal lymph nodes. Laboratory studies show elevated inflammatory markers and polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia. Biopsy of an enlarged lymph node demonstrates atypical lymphoid infiltrates with vascular proliferation and immune complex deposition.
Mnemonic
ANGIOimmunoblastic = ANGIO (blood vessels) + IMMUNO (immune system) + BLASTIC (abnormal proliferation)
