aortography
Definition
The process of producing radiographic images of the aorta for diagnostic purposes
Clinical context
A 65-year-old male presents with sudden onset chest pain radiating to his back. His blood pressure is 180/120 mmHg in the right arm and 140/90 mmHg in the left arm. Aortography is performed to evaluate for aortic dissection and to assess the extent of involvement of the ascending aorta. The imaging reveals a intimal flap with true and false lumens, confirming the diagnosis of acute aortic dissection.
