bladder diverticulum
Definition
A pathological pouch or sac that protrudes from the wall of the bladder
Clinical context
A 78-year-old male presents with urinary frequency, urgency, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Cystoscopy reveals multiple outpouchings from the bladder wall, and CT urogram shows diverticula filled with contrast. The patient's symptoms are attributed to stasis of urine in the diverticula leading to infection.
