Definition

A malignant tumor arising from the endometrium (lining of the uterus)

Clinical context

A 58-year-old postmenopausal woman presents with irregular vaginal bleeding for the past 2 months. She has a history of obesity and hypertension but no family history of cancer. On examination, her uterus is palpable and slightly enlarged. Pelvic ultrasound reveals thickened endometrium with irregular borders. Endometrial biopsy confirms the diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma.
