Definition

Inflammation of the epicondyle, typically occurring at the elbow joint

Clinical context

A 45-year-old office worker presents with pain on the lateral aspect of the elbow that worsens with gripping and lifting objects. The pain is localized to the lateral epicondyle and is exacerbated by resisted wrist extension. Physical examination reveals tenderness over the lateral epicondyle with no signs of synovitis or joint effusion.
