Definition
Inflammation of the epididymis, a coiled tube located above each testicle that stores and carries sperm
Clinical context
A 25-year-old male presents with sudden onset of scrotal pain, swelling, and fever. Physical examination reveals erythema and tenderness of the left scrotum with a positive Prehn's sign. Urinalysis shows pyuria and positive leukocyte esterase. The patient reports painful urination and frequent urination. Given these symptoms, the most likely diagnosis is epididymitis.
