surgical incision of the fascia to relieve pressure and restore blood flow

A 25-year-old construction worker presents to the emergency department after a severe crush injury to his leg. Despite initial treatment, he develops severe pain, paresthesias, and muscle rigidity in the affected limb. On examination, his leg is significantly swollen with tense fascia and diminished pulses. Emergency fasciotomy is performed to prevent compartment syndrome and restore circulation.
