follicular lymphoma
Definition
A type of lymphoma characterized by the presence of abnormal lymphocytes within lymph node follicles
Clinical context
A 65-year-old patient presents with painless lymphadenopathy in the cervical and axillary regions. Biopsy of the affected lymph node reveals characteristic 'garland' or 'clock face' appearance under microscopy with abnormal lymphocytes arranged in follicular patterns. The patient's immunohistochemistry shows CD20 positivity with t(14;18) translocation.
