The medical term for an enlarged liver

Clinical context

A 45-year-old man presents to the emergency department with right upper quadrant pain and abdominal distension. On physical examination, the liver span is measured and found to be 18 cm, significantly beyond the normal range of 10-12 cm. Imaging confirms hepatomegaly with no evidence of mass lesions. The patient reports recent weight gain and has a history of alcohol use disorder.
