Definition
A medical condition characterized by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain
Clinical context
A 3-year-old boy presents with a progressively enlarging head circumference and irritability. On examination, his anterior fontanelle is bulging and he has downward deviation of the eyes. CT scan reveals enlarged ventricles with normal brain parenchyma. His condition is likely due to obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid flow.
