Definition
A pathological condition characterized by excessive secretion of hormones from the pituitary gland
Clinical context
A 35-year-old woman presents with progressive headache, visual field defects, and galactorrhea. Physical examination reveals enlarged hands and feet with coarse facial features. Laboratory studies show elevated GH levels with loss of normal circadian rhythm. MRI of the brain demonstrates a large pituitary mass compressing the optic chiasm.
