Definition
A type of cancer that develops from cells that line the blood vessels or lymphatic vessels, named after Moritz Kaposi
Clinical context
A 45-year-old HIV-positive man presents with multiple purplish nodules on his lower extremities and oral mucosa. He reports progressive weakness and weight loss over the past few months. Physical examination reveals multiple violaceous lesions that blanch with pressure, consistent with Kaposi sarcoma. His CD4 count is 80 cells/mm³, indicating severe immunosuppression.
