inflammation of the lymphatic vessels, typically characterized by red streaking along the skin surface, tenderness, and sometimes fever
Clinical context
A 45-year-old woman presents with a red, warm, tender streak extending from her left arm down to her axilla. She developed these symptoms 24 hours after a minor cut while gardening. The streak is palpable and erythematous, following the course of lymphatic drainage. She also reports mild fevers and malaise. Physical examination reveals no palpable lymphadenopathy in the axilla.
