Definition
A malignant tumor of the cerebellum composed of primitive neuroblasts
Clinical context
A 7-year-old boy presents with headache, vomiting, and gait instability that has worsened over 2 weeks. On examination, he has poor coordination and nystagmus. CT scan of the brain reveals a large posterior fossa mass with calcifications. MRI shows a solid enhancing lesion in the cerebellum. The patient undergoes surgery and histopathology confirms the diagnosis. His parents are devastated to learn their child has a malignant brain tumor.
