Clinical context
A 28-year-old construction worker presents with a deep laceration to his forearm after falling onto a metal pipe. Physical examination reveals a complete disruption of the flexor carpi radialis tendon and associated muscle fibers. He undergoes emergency surgery to repair the damaged structures. During the procedure, the surgeon performs a myorrhaphy to accurately reapproximate the torn muscle fibers and tendon ends, restoring the patient's ability to flex his wrist and fingers. Post-operatively, the patient is placed in a splint and referred to physical therapy for gradual functional recovery.
