Definition
a malignant tumor arising from the glandular cells of the prostate gland
Clinical context
A 65-year-old man presents with difficulty urinating and frequent nighttime urination that has worsened over the past 6 months. His PSA levels are significantly elevated at 12.5 ng/mL. A biopsy of the prostate gland reveals malignant glandular cells with marked nuclear atypia and increased mitotic activity. The tumor is confined to the prostate gland with no evidence of metastasis.
