pyeloplasty
Definition
Surgical repair or reconstruction of the renal pelvis, typically performed to correct obstruction or deformity in the kidney's collecting system
Clinical context
A 45-year-old woman presents with recurrent右肾绞痛 and hematuria. Imaging reveals a stricture at the ureteropelvic junction causing hydronephrosis. She undergoes pyeloplasty to restore normal urine flow from the renal pelvis to the ureter.
Mnemonic
PYELOplasty = PYELO (renal pelvis) + PLASTY (repair) - think 'pelvis repair' for the kidney's collecting system
