Clinical context
A 24-year-old female presents with dysuria, urgency, and suprapubic pain. Urinalysis reveals cloudy urine with numerous white blood cells on microscopic examination. She is diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and treated with appropriate antibiotics. The presence of white blood cells in the urine, known as pyuria, indicates an active inflammatory process in the urinary tract.
