Definition
excessive discharge from the nose, commonly known as runny nose
Clinical context
A 3-year-old child presents with clear nasal discharge for the past 3 days, occurring several times daily and interfering with sleep. The child has no fever, cough, or other systemic symptoms. Physical examination reveals no purulent discharge or signs of sinusitis. This presentation is consistent with viral rhinorrhea, commonly associated with the common cold.
