seborrheic keratosis
Definition
A benign skin condition characterized by the excessive production and secretion of sebum, leading to the formation of waxy, scaly patches on the skin
Clinical context
A 65-year-old man presents with multiple brownish, waxy plaques on his face and chest that have been present for years. The lesions are easily distinguished from malignant skin lesions by their 'stuck-on' appearance and greasy, keratotic surface. He has no history of significant sun exposure or skin cancer.
