Definition

A pathological condition affecting tendons, characterized by pain, swelling, and dysfunction of the tendon tissue

Clinical context

A 35-year-old runner presents with progressive anterior knee pain that worsens with running and climbing stairs. Physical examination reveals tenderness along the patellar tendon with pain on palpation and resisted knee extension. MRI shows increased signal within the tendon substance without complete rupture.
