A tumor of the thymus gland
Clinical context
A 45-year-old man presents with chest pain and shortness of breath. Imaging reveals a mass in the anterior mediastinum with calcification. The tumor is resected and histopathology shows epithelial cells arranged in a nested pattern with lymphoid infiltration. This patient's thymoma is associated with myasthenia gravis and presents with symptoms of a mass effect.
