A medical procedure using a scope to visually examine the ureter
Clinical context
A 45-year-old patient presents with hematuria and flank pain. Imaging reveals a 6mm stone in the mid-ureter. The urologist performs ureteroscopy to directly visualize and remove the stone. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia with a flexible scope introduced through the urethra and bladder into the ureter.
