Inflammation of the urethra
Clinical context
A 28-year-old male presents with painful urination and purulent discharge from the urethra. He reports increased frequency and urgency. On examination, there is urethral erythema and purulent exudate. Urinalysis shows elevated WBCs and gram-negative rods on microscopy. The patient denies sexual activity in the past 6 months.
