vitiligo
Definition
A skin condition characterized by the loss of pigment, resulting in white patches on the skin
Clinical context
A 28-year-old woman presents with progressive white patches on her arms and face that have been present for 6 months. The patches are well-demarcated and do not cause any symptoms. Physical examination reveals depigmented macules with normal skin texture and no scaling. The patient mentions that her mother had similar patches and that the condition seems to worsen with sun exposure.
