Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Etymed mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Etymed, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and that you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse engineer, or use the content to train machine learning models without our written permission.
3. Content ownership
Etymed owns or licenses the curriculum, including term definitions, etymologies, clinical contexts, mnemonics, and morpheme references. You retain ownership of the review data you generate (ratings, timestamps, progress).
4. Medical disclaimer
Etymed is an educational tool for medical terminology. It is NOT medical advice. Nothing in the Service should be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making clinical decisions. Etymed is not a substitute for medical school, clinical training, or professional judgment.
5. USMLE disclaimer
Etymed is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), or the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). "USMLE" is a registered trademark of its respective owners. References to USMLE steps are descriptive of study material scope only.
6. Account termination
You may delete your account at any time by emailing support@etymed.io. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, attempt to abuse the Service, or engage in unlawful activity.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Etymed and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Etymed is legally registered. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless your local consumer protection law provides otherwise.
